Building on their success at the Cannes Film Market, ‘Charlie Shaw’s Revenge’ Producer Renato Pires and Writer/Director John Langridge have scored an early success for their follow-up project, the explosive road movie thriller ‘Hostage’, by attaching indie favourite and ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Richard Brake.
The film, a fast-moving road movie thriller, tells the story of Joe and Dick, two down-on-their-luck trawlermen who agree to join local mob boss Big Sean (played by Richard Brake) in his smuggling operation in a desperate bid to save their livelihood.
After being boarded by the coastguard, they are forced to toss their latest shipment overboard. As the story begins, the pair must rob a remote petrol station to repay the money they owe. With Joe’s girlfriend being held hostage as collateral, they have only two days to return with the cash — or she dies.
Totally out of their depth, the robbery quickly descends into a brutal bloodbath from which only Joe emerges alive, though badly injured. Unable to drive, he is forced to take a hostage of his own — Charlotte, a middle-class woman who has stopped at the petrol station to fill up her car.
What Joe doesn’t realize is that Charlotte is herself on the run, hiding a dark and dangerous secret. Far from home and trapped in an escalating nightmare, Joe soon discovers that his ordeal has only just begun.
With its universal theme of surviving against impossible odds, unforgettable characters, and a heart-stopping race against time, ‘Hostage’ promises an irresistible cinematic experience that will resonate with audiences worldwide.
Drop Dead Films look forward to bringing this exciting new project to the screen, with the inimitable Richard Brake delivering an unforgettable performance as the ruthless Big Sean.
